Learn traditional African dance in Senegal
Dancing and music are inextricably linked in Africa. Each feeling evokes a dance, every dance evokes a rhythm. The various traditional tribes in Senegal have their own dance forms.
There is the more sensual challenging dance, or the dance which is more like body art or a dance form mixed with acrobatics. Traditional African dances are used for celebrations, initiations, harvest celebrations etc.
Different dance for men and women
The way people dance in Senegal is an experience in itself. It really shows the liveliness and the joy of the African people. It's full of movement in the arms and legs and it's very rhythmic.The traditional African dances are wildly different for men and women. The rhythm players are whipped up by the way of dancing and the way of dancing is influenced by their playing.
It is certainly worth a try to learn to dance to the typical African rhythm. You'll be taught by an African dancer who used to dance with the National Ballet of Senegal.
